Hilton Shenzhen Shekou Nanhai Celebrates Third Annual Hilton Worldwide Global Week Of Service

Local Volunteers Join Thousands of Team Members across 93 Countries and Territories by Serving Shenzhen Nanfeng Social Work Service

SHENZHEN, China - In celebration of Hilton Worldwide's third annual Global Week of Service, at 4 p.m. on Oct. 19, more than 50 volunteers from Hilton Shenzhen Shekou Nanhai are participating in a community care kick-off ceremony at the Shekou Legal Cultural Square together with Shenzhen Nanfeng Social Work Service and International Recycling Non-Government Organization (IRNGO). The community care initiative will last for one year and will include a series of courses and activities which will be beneficial to the community.

Community service is an integral part of Hilton Worldwide's culture, and acts of volunteerism occur year-round across our portfolio of 12 distinct brands and more than 4,200 properties. Hilton Shenzhen Shekou Nanhai's efforts are a part of Hilton Worldwide's week-long annual celebration of the company's commitment to serving and enriching the communities where we live, work and travel. This year, Hilton Worldwide participated in more than 3,000 handson service projects globally.

"This event is the initiation of a series of activities that we will carry out together with Shenzhen Nanfeng Social Work Service & IRNGO, which will connect us with the community, and enable us to put our available resources together to strengthen the communities and create opportunities," said John Burger, general manager, Hilton Shenzhen Shekou Nanhai.

These events will be extended throughout a period of 12 months, and each month will be a different activity and theme to allow hotel team members to be fully engaged with the community. Through the participation of the IRNGO, the resources of the hotel and the community will also be able to reach children in need and provide them with support throughout materials and care.

Global Week of Service is Hilton Worldwide's largest annual volunteer service initiative and brings together Team Members from across Hilton Worldwide's offices and hotel properties, helping to strengthen the company's connections with its local communities and bringing Team Members closer together. In 2013, Team Members at more than 900 properties and offices completed more than 2,400 volunteer projects in 700 cities across the company's global footprint. The projects focused on engaging Team Members and delivering on Hilton Worldwide's commitment to Travel with Purpose by creating opportunities, strengthening communities, celebrating cultures and living sustainably. This year, the company aims to build upon this community engagement and is striving to complete more than 3,000 service projects.
