Hilton Daytona Beach Resort/Ocean Walk Village Will Host A Remembrance Ceremony To Honor Those Who Lost Their Lives On September 11, 2001

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Hilton Daytona Beach Resort/Ocean Walk Village will pay homage to the victims and survivors of September 11, 2001 with a Remembrance Ceremony. A United States flag covering four stories of the resort will be draped over the front of the hotel with the words, "9-11 We Will Never Forget." The 30 minute ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will be located at the South Drive entrance of the hotel located on A1A in Daytona Beach.

Daytona Beach Mayor Derrick Henry will be the host speaker. Guest speakers will include Volusia County Chair Jason Davis, Daytona Beach Police Captain James Newcomb, Daytona Beach Interim Fire Chief Dru Driscoll and First Lieutenant Larry Stoney. The fire department Honor Guard will toll a bell at 8:46 a.m. representing the first tower of the World Trade Center being struck on September 11, 2001 followed by a moment of silence. Ms. Colleen Durham of the hotel and Greater Friendship Baptist Church will sing the National Anthem. Reverend Dr. L. Ronald Druham will lead us in prayer. Air Force ROTC Color Guard Detachment 157 Embry Riddle Aeronautical University will be presenting and retrieving the colors.

"We are continuing our tradition to pay our respects to those who perished and those brave men and women that put their own lives at stake to help 12 years ago," said Jason Reader, area managing director/general manager at Hilton Daytona Beach Resort/Ocean Walk Village. "We will honor them with a ceremonial bell ringing at 8:46 a.m. We invite everyone to join us."

In addition to the tribute, Hilton Daytona Beach Resort/Ocean Walk Village is also offering a Remembrance Breakfast for everyone in Doc Bales' Grill located inside the hotel for $19.95. First Responders, members of area Fire and Police Departments and all Military personnel active or retired will receive a discounted All-U-Can-Eat breakfast Buffet in Doc Bales' Grille for $9.11 available 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Complimentary parking for this event is available to the public in the hotel's parking lot across the street from the hotel behind Hog Heaven restaurant on Auditorium Boulevard.
