HONOLULU, Hawaii - The Stylistics, one of the most recognized soul groups of the 1970s, is bringing its harmonious sounds to the Hilton Hawaiian Village's Coral Ballroom on New Year's Eve. Doors to the ballroom will open at 9 p.m. that evening, with the Stylistics taking the stage around 10:30 p.m. With five gold singles, the Stylistics' smooth sounds have been a hit on the adult contemporary charts for more than three decades. Advanced reserved table seats for $49 are currently on sale at Ticketmaster outlets including the Blaisdell Box Office, Macy's and online at www.ticketmaster.com. Ticket price includes one standard drink per person, OR one bottle of champagne per couple, inclusive of tax and tip.
Also on New Year's Eve, Thursday, December 31, the resort will hold its popular Waikiki Starlight Luau at a special venue - the Lagoon Green - next to the picturesque Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon. Prices for the luau are $125 for adults, $77.50 for children ages 4 to 11; children 3 and under are free. Golden Circle tickets for seats closer the stage are $4 more for each ticket. A sumptuous dinner buffet is offered featuring a modern twist on traditional luau fare. The culinary team of Hilton Hawaiian Village has taken the islands' freshest ingredients and crafted them into such selections as steamed banana leaf-wrapped island fish; Thai lemongrass marinated huli huli chicken; rotisserie sirloin of beef with a rosemary and guava barbecue sauce; Hawaiian paella with Portuguese sausage, island fish and shellfish; Waimanalo Farms island greens; Pacific rice noodle salad; Molokai herb-roasted sweet potatoes, just to name a few. Traditional luau favorites include kalua pig; lomi lomi salmon; poi; ahi tuna poke and sweet taro rolls. The desserts include coconut haupia custard cake; pineapple upside down cake; passion fruit and mango tart and guava chiffon cake. The Waikiki Starlight Luau features the beautiful ladies and gentlemen of Tihati Productions in an exhilarating show. Before the Stylistics take the stage, the Village is featuring special New Year's Eve menus at its restaurants. At Bali Steak & Seafood, there'll be two seating times - one at 6 p.m., and another one at 8:30 p.m. Chef Francois Bougard and his team are taking diners on an extraordinary, six-course culinary journey. The dinner begins with two starters: a miso hamachi tartar with Hamakua mushroom caviar, and a Thai curry lobster bisque. A salad of Hirabara Farms' lettuce is next followed by a seared ahi tuna with kukui nut sauce. For their entrée, diners can choose one of the following: seared island snapper with steamed alii mushroom, or grilled prime beef tenderloin, or grilled Australian lamb chops with asparagus, garlic potato puree and rosemary thyme infused lamb jus. Ending the evening is a trio of desserts: coconut tapioca, bittersweet chocolate with ginger custard filling and lilikoi cheesecake with fresh berries. The cost of dinner during the first seating at 6 p.m. is $150 per person; and $190 during the second seating at 8:30 p.m. Prices are exclusive of sales tax and gratuity.
At Rainbow Lanai, a buffet spread featuring various cold, hot and carved items will be featured. Waimanalo Farms' island greens; Hawaiian grown tomato and bocacinni Mozzarella salad and sushi rice salad are some of the starters, while sashimi and half-shell oysters will be chilled on ice, along with domestic and imported cheese. Among the hot selections are tomato and spinach soup, rigatoni pasta with Hamakua mushroom and braised lamb, grilled island fish, lemon-roasted chicken, steamed snow crab and baked ham. An assortment of desserts will bring a sweet ending to the meal including caramelized banana and chocolate pudding, sweet cranberry chutney cheesecake squares, assorted crème brulee, haupia custard, and chocolate fondue.
